Guides
Six explanations of the arithmetic behind the tools, for when a result is not the one you expected.
- Percentage change vs percentage points — why 4% to 6% is two points and also a 50% rise.
- How to add fractions step by step — common denominators, adding numerators, reducing.
- Image quality vs file size — what JPG, PNG and WebP each discard, and when to pick which.
- Why word counts differ between tools — hyphens, numbers and line breaks, and how each shifts the total.
- How age is calculated, including leap days — the month-end rule and February 29 birthdays.
- How a loan EMI is calculated — the amortisation formula and the costs it leaves out.
How the tools work
Each tool is a page of HTML and JavaScript, and the calculation runs in your browser. The numbers, text, images and documents you enter are not sent to a server here, and there is no account to create. File tools read the file you pick through the browser's own file APIs, and your browser writes the download.
Every tool page shows its method, the input ranges it accepts, worked examples with the output the code really produces, and a list of what the tool does not do. The shared arithmetic sits in a few small modules covered by automated tests, with browser tests that drive the real pages at desktop and phone widths.
Calculation methods and corrections sets out the rounding rules, the date and time zone handling, and how to report a result you think is wrong.
Questions
Do the values I type leave my device?
No. Arithmetic, image re-encoding and DOCX text extraction all happen in the page. The site serves its own JavaScript and loads the Google AdSense and Google Analytics scripts; none of them receives tool inputs.
Why does the fraction calculator show a fraction and a decimal?
The fraction is exact, computed from whole-number numerators and denominators and then reduced. The decimal is that exact value rounded to six places: 1/3 plus 1/6 gives 1/2 and 0.500000.
Do any tools remember what I entered?
Two, and only in your own browser. The time zone converter saves favourite cities; the content calendar generator saves one set of template settings. Clearing site data removes both.
Are the health and money results advice?
No. A BMI value or a monthly payment is general information from the numbers you typed. It ignores everything you did not enter, such as fees, insurance or body composition.
I think a result is wrong. What happens next?
Email freetoolspoint@gmail.com with the page, the exact inputs and the result you expected. Reproducible errors are corrected in the calculation or the explanation, and that page's review date changes.
